Like the parent institution for which it is named, the Lincoln University Foundation has, in the years of its existence, contributed significantly to the well-being and advancement of New Zealand’s land-based industries.
As Chancellor of Lincoln University and a Trustee of the Foundation I am particularly closely associated with its activities.
The opportunity to help advance New Zealand’s land-based industries is particularly important to me. There are tremendous opportunities for identifying sustainable solutions for issues in the land-based industries, integrating land use practice more closely with environmental, social and cultural dimensions in achieving high productivity.
The Foundation makes its contribution to New Zealand by funding travel, research and other study which is to the advantage and well-being of the land-based industries. It also sponsors an annual Farmer of the Year competition with an associated Field Day on the winner’s property. Furthermore it supports Lincoln University’s study abroad programme, enabling young scholars to pursue studies overseas.
In these multiple ways the Foundation stamps its mark on New Zealand and encourages innovative enhancement of the country’s land-based activities.
As Chancellor of Lincoln University I am delighted to confirm Lincoln University’s support for the Lincoln University Foundation South Island Farmer of the Year competition,
